ITIL Service Design

Purpose

This application is used to describe the architecture of your computer networks, the availability, your consistency calculations, and any future plans that will be impacting your systems.

Diagram showing the relationships between concepts in the ITIL Service Design functionality.

Benefits

  • Create a robust architecture – Having a complete picture of your network allows you to know your dependencies, avoid single points of failure, and ensure you have sufficient redundancy to keep your organization running.
  • Record system metrics – Determine your availability requirements, then keep track of your system’s availability and consistency. Track any system failures, and work to fix or improve your architecture.
  • Plan for the future – Know your system’s requirements and current capabilities, and what you need to be able to do in the future. If your availability needs increase, you can determine if they are higher than your current system allows.
